quattro all-wheel drive with self-locking centre differential
Audi quattro all-wheel drive with S-specific tuning delivers superb handling and traction, while enhancing stability on wet or low friction surfaces. The self-locking centre differential directs 40 percent of the torque to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear in normal driving conditions, with up to 85 percent directed to the rear wheels if the road conditions demand it. Even in fast cornering, the handling is precise, stable, and agile. The wheel-selective torque control gently brakes the near-side wheels during sporty cornering, increasing the drive torque on the far-side wheels. The result is improved dynamic performance when cornering and more precise and neutral handling.
The 8-speed automatic transmission with Dynamic Shift Program (DSP) ensures faster gear changes without any perceptible break in propulsive power. A sport program is also available which can be operated automatically with the selector lever.
