• New Audi A6 wins ‘Australia’s Best Large Car over $60,000’
• 2011 win is the third consecutive award for the A6
• Audi A1 1.4 TFSI and A3 1.8T are also finalists in their class
Audi’s seventh generation A6 3.0 TDI quattro has won it’s third Australia’s Best Cars award, following on from wins in 2009 and 2010.
The new A6 3.0 TDI was announced ‘Best Large Car over $60,000’at a black tie event in Melbourne on 29 November 2011. Managing Director, Uwe Hagen, accepted the award on behalf of the Audi team.
Judged by Australia’s national motoring organisations including AAA, NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA SA, RACWA, RACT and AANT, this annualawardsees more than 300 vehicles tested throughout the year, in the country’s most-comprehensive new car testing program.
Of the new Audi A6, the judges said that Audi had again proved it’s precision and finesse with the A6, reigning supreme in a fiercely competitive, premium field. Citing the vehicle’s safety features, low fuel consumption, performance and handling among some of the standout features of the car, the judges went on to say that “Audi’s fit and finish is something of a benchmark, even in the luxury carclass. And the A6 has a quality look and feel and attentionto detail that should please fussier buyers.”
The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Ambition was one of three finalistsin the ‘Best Light Cars over $20,000’ class, along with the A3 Sportback also making the final three in the ‘Best Small Cars over $35,000’ class.
The 2011 Australia’s Best Cars award for the Audi A6 follows on from it’s win last week of two Fairfax ‘Drive Car of the Year’awards for ‘Best Luxury Car over $80,000’and the popular ‘People’s Choice Award’.
